Cupula Azul

Cupula Azul is a beach front home with 4 bedrooms and 3 baths--the master bedroom has a king bed and full bath with double sink; two of the bedrooms have queen beds and the fourth bedroom has 4 bunk beds. The home is inspired by traditional Mexican décor from the tiled floor, painting, and architecture. The house, which has an open floor plan, includes plenty of seating for guests with plush couches and a fireplace to enjoy (just be sure to bring your own wood/firelogs). Next to the living area is a dining table for guests as well as a bar for expert mixologists. The kitchen is fully equipped for as much (or as little) cooking as you would like to do, with appliances such as a microwave, toaster, and coffeemaker. This main room also features a large sliding glass door and plenty of windows to view the ocean from inside, or you may do so on the large deck the spans the length of the house. This deck includes patio furniture, a fire pit, and a grill for all outdoor activities. Other amenities include: ceiling fans, central heating and cooling, and a 2 car garage.

Owner requests No Smoking Inside, Pets allowed with extra Security Deposit. Sheets and one set of bath towels are provided. 2-night Minimum during the week; 3-night minimum during weekends in March, April, May, June, October and all Holidays. (Specific Holidays we request 4 minimum nights stay). For 7 nights the owner requests, if it is a weekend, check in must be on Friday or Sunday not Saturday.

  Our stay at this beachfront rental had its pros and cons. The customer service was excellent—communication was handled promptly, and any issues we had were addressed right away. The location was perfect, and the number of beds made it ideal for our group.
  That said, the home could use some TLC. All toilets and beds need replacing, and the twin bunk beds were unstable. Some areas, such as walls and paint, need touch-ups. Additionally, with high winds, there was significant noise coming through the windows and doors, creating a whistling sound throughout the night.
  We also had a couple of incidents during our stay. Less than 24 hours in, we ran out of water, but Oceano responded quickly, sent someone out, and discovered that the water reserves were empty and the city line had been turned off. They promptly refilled the reserves, which we appreciated. Another issue was the uncomfortable beds. Oceano tried to help by adding mattress pads, which provided some relief, but for a family staying over five days, comfort is essential.
  Overall, the great customer service and prime location made up for some of the inconveniences, but the home would greatly benefit from some upgrades and maintenance to enhance the guest experience.

  We really enjoyed our stay at this vacation rental, and would definitely stay there again. It was clean, and there was plenty of room for the 8 of us. The sheets were exceptionally soft, even if the mattress was a bit too firm. The patio furniture is still usable, but has some cracks in the plastic loungers. The house next door is building a sea wall or large patio, but the construction was surprisingly quiet and did not disturb us at all. Unfortunately, the homeowner is a very inconsiderate American who allowed large concrete wall sections to be left directly in front of our section of the beach during construction.

  The property is a pretty good size to stay. The garage is pretty big. The property is in good condition and is a quite area.   Booked last minute so we had limited options. Went with this one for the view and space, which worked well. However, master toilet didn’t work, shower handle fell off, multiple cabinet handles broken... I could go on and on. Just does not meet the normal minimal expectation for rentals as it needs a lot of repair.
  On a positive note though - multiple chairs to take outside, comfortable newer reclining sofas, and a beautiful view!

  The view from the back porch was just spectacular and what we wanted! The house is going through some renovations, but overall met our needs. We had seven people in our party and the house was big enough and we never felt crowded. The house has a garage and secluded parking outside of it.   There were a few things that were a problem. We did not have internet, so we called and they sent someone, so it worked for an hour or so and then the rest of the stay we had nothing. The toaster did not work, the dishwasher was falling out of it's holes and was not even connected. It was a comfortable house and was good for our family, other than the problems. We ate out at several places in town and was very happy with the food and service.

  My family and I stayed for four days.This home could be so much more. If the owners would take the time to fix what is wrong. The reviews are accurate. Yet ignored. The master bedroom has a door that does not lock,it what is suppose to be a beautiful view, but is abstructured because the windows are frosted, the door to give acess to the patio should open. But it's jammed. The bathroom has swinging bar doors that do not allow privacy. The guest bathroom faucet handle is missing. We ran out of running water twice. I could go on and on of minor things that have need fixing. The location is amazing, the neighborhood excellent for families, the rental place extremely helpful. The beach is paradise.

  Good location--both tide-pooling and swimming available depending on the tide. Kudos to the homeowner for fixing some of the problems noted in past reviews! Appears to be a work in progress, a good thing. Nice cabinets, some paint, tile & stucco redone, new refrigerator, utensils, outside lighting, furniture. A nice touch is the small under-counter refrig usable for drinks. Some issues remain,though, and I'm mentioning our experience during our stay the last week in May, 2017.
  Despite the advertising there is NO usable internet or television service. The internet, especially, is critical for those who work on vacation.
  Plumbing problems--The water pressure switch in the garage failed shortly after our arrival. Two toilet tanks fill only half way forcing you to fill them by pitcher so the flushes are thorough. Kitchen faucet runs/drips despite being replaced during our stay. Master shower diverter valve drips noisily. The only outside faucet is at the wrong end of the patio for washing sand off your feet. (Bring a LONG hose and nozzle!)
  No door mats available for sand removal before entering the house.
  No working BBQ. The built-in gas one is unusable and no gas was available.
  Master bedroom exterior door does not open.
  No coffee or end tables or reading lamps in the living area.
  We've used Oceano since they started years ago and, as usual, they are very attentive to the issues they can fix such as our running out of water. We would recommend this property to a friend if the friend is aware of the issues common to the rentals in Las Conchas.

  We had a good time at Cupula Azul, we particularly enjoyed the patio. However I need to say that house needs some maintenance, door frames need paint. Outside grill is in bad shape (fortunately there was a spare one so we survived). House can be a great success with some uplifts specially because is very big, enough for a big group.

  Loved the location and layout of Capula Azul. We have rented numerous homes in Rocky Point and always have a great time. We thought it was sad that the property had not been maintained at the same level as the other homes in the area. It was still a great three days at the beach. Fresh paint, refinished flooring and newer linens would make all the difference in the world.

  Sheets and covers from the beds seemed clean, a bit outdated but that was fine. The fridge was disgusting, seemed like the outside had rotten stains, we didnt even want to buy any food to put in there. The view from the back patio was nice as we could see the beach and the kids could walk up to it. Although the outside shower did not work so the kids would walk in the house all full of sand. Another thing, they had one tv in the living room but we didnt get to watch it because it had no cable nor dvd player, just vcr, so the kids were a bit bored when they werent in the water. The furniture was a bit outdated, but again, for the price it was fine.

  Going to Puerto Penasco is always a pleasure trip, have been going for 20yrs. the rental house we stayed in needs a lot of TLC, from toilets rocking, sinks that need repair, a refrigerator that needs the shelving fixed in side and get rid of the rust spots on the outside of the door, couldn't find the silverware drawer (we were shown-the drawer wouldn't open and no handle) the house has a nice flow, just needs some repair. we were not told of the rocks so close to shore, so that was disappointing, we could not go into the water for fear of falling

  We really enjoyed staying in this house. It has the perfect floor plan. Open central living and dining area with large windows to see the ocean and a truly stellar porch. Nicely functioning fireplace. Lots of sleeping space. Plenty of dishes and kitchen supplies. Nice bathrooms. The decor is subtle and tasteful.The negatives were minor. Those of us who go to Rocky Point a lot expect some funkiness and deferred maintenance. The frig (which is being replaced) is missing shelves, but it has a back up 2nd small frig. The floors are due to be refinished, but that didn't bother us at all (just cosmetic). The beds in the master and 2nd bedroom are very hard, but the bunk beds were nice. Sheets and towels were plentiful and good quality. The window in the master bedroom is clouded over, but we are told it is being replaced. We couldn't get the outdoor grill to work, but Oceano warned us that it was troublesome and when we asked them to bring us a charcoal grill they did so within 15 minutes! Kudos! The only thing that might be a bothersome is the bug spray smell. It is only bad when the heat is on. We were fine with no heat (even during Christmas), so it was not an issue. They had to treat the house for termites, so perhaps the smell will wear off. If you are sensitive, ask to have the heat kept off and bring/buy firewood for the fireplace. I really want to endorse Oceano Rentals- they are very courteous, friendly and professional.

  Won't stay there again. We felt like what we received was not what was advertised. Stayed with GoOceano in the past with good results-just not this time. I told them about this, but they said they would tell the owner and see what happens. When we arrived, the property had 2 cabinet doors ripped off the hinges, the Saltillo tile floor was flaking up everywhere from peeling sealant, nasty chemical (bug spray?) smell that never went away, multiple water leak locations with unrepaired drywall and drooping paint from the ceiling, exposed electrical, loose, moldy plumbing fixtures in bath/kitchen, and the property was in general disrepair (we have photos). We understand this is Mexico, but this place was just bad, and not worth the asking price. Between our party we own 30+ rentals in Phoenix so we understand that some things can fall through the cracks, but this is not acceptable.

  The house was definitely large enough for our group of 9 and in a nice location with beachfront access and a big patio with fireplace. Our only issue was with the lack of cleanliness/updates. The floors need to be redone as the tile is peeling, everything inside (windows too) were dusty, the fridge had splatters on it and is missing drawers and shelves, the dishwasher didn't work, the oven smelled like fish, there were no curtain hung in the living room, allowing anyone to see in. We found curtains but there were no rings to hang them so we just had to drape them over the rod. IT also would have been nice to know we needed propane to grill - we ended up grilling at the neighbors! Overall slightly disappointed and would look to book our other favorite house in the future that happened to be booked this weekend.
