La Gaviota

La Gaviota is a beach front condo that has 2 bedrooms and 2 baths--the master bedroom has a queen bed and bath, and the other bedroom has twin beds. There is a fully equipped kitchen, including coffee maker, blender, microwave, and toaster. The living room has a queen hide-a-bed and fireplace (bring own wood or fire logs). This room also features gorgeous ocean views from the sliding glass doors. Other amenities include central heating and cooling, Wi-Fi, charcoal barbecue, and a patio in the back, as well as a beach front patio. Landline is provided for your use.

  We have stayed at La Gaviota several times. The beachfront location is good, and we like that it is pet friendly. The replaced stove and kitchen dishes were good improvements, but it really needs more work. The same old leaky noisy frig was still there. The master bed was so uncomfortable, we cut our trip a day short. More updates are needed to be worth the price. Being pet friendly and having a garage are nice benefits, so we would probably stay there again, especially if they continue to update and upgrade the furnishings. It would be nice to have better instructions for the lockbox and tv, but Oceano did send someone to help right away.

  Great location. Could have been better if it wasn’t for the crazy woman that own her home next door. She kept knocking on the walls waking us up. Shouting be quiet , but we were quiet because we were asleep. Letting her dogs out on a long chain and sometimes no chains. That they would almost come into our patio barking like they wanted to bite us. We just waited to walk to the beach until she put the dogs away. Also the condo needs some noticeably repairs. If we’re to stay there before recommending this property to anyone. The only thing that great was the service by the rental company. Especially Edwin Olivad

  La Gaviota was a good size for our family of 5 - having a second bathroom really helped when we were getting ready to go to the beach, and then cleaning up afterward. This is a good location with easy access to the beach and tidepools. The beach was practically empty on Thursday and Friday, and not at all crowded on Saturday. The property feels safe and secure and there are plenty of towels - important for a beach house!
  
  One problem: the range in the kitchen is old and all the numbers/words have worn off of the control knobs. The burners work, but you have to guess how high the heat is. The oven works, but it took me a while to test all the settings on the blank dial and figure out how to turn it on to the Bake setting. And of course the temperature was too high and burned my food a bit, because I had to guess where to set another blank dial. I don't expect things to be super modern, but it is time for new appliances in that kitchen.

  We had a wonderful time during our three day weekend stay in Rocky Point at Oceano's La Gaviota. The staff at Oceano are so helpful and friendly to work with. We have stayed at La Gaviota during our stays in Rocky Point for several years. Oceano keeps the unit in excellent condition. We could not have asked for anything more for our stay. A nice condo directly on the beach and within walking distance to Manny's and a 5 minute drive to the Malecon.

  Having used Oceano many times in the past and never disappointed, this is a first. Understandable that the property is old. It needs many repairs.The stove only works half the time unable to read the knobs.The refrigerator leaks water inside and outside.The showers did have hot water but no flow. Very disappointing after a nice day on the beach.
  Both toilets have faulty plungers and refill every 60 seconds causing the pump house pump to come on,we turned the water off at the toilets each nite so not to hear the pump running All Night Long! such a waste of water and electricity.
  Location is great,just do not interact with the next door neighbor to the south of the unit ,many dogs and she can be fiesty at times.
  Noted no toaster or can opener,called Oceano and new ones provided in one hour!The sliding patio door has no screen,no flies this trip but must have one later in the season.The door is very difficult to open.
  Overall would be a great unit if general maintenance was done.I know Oceano does not own the unit but I wish they would contact the owner and fix things.
  The last day the pump house started leaking a good amt of water and staff was notified.

  Great place to stay. Close to Manny beach club which has a pool you can use. Ocean was more dirty on this side of the island. Which was a bummer for swimming in. The only concern we had was the main shower not draining so I used the plunger under the sink to fix the problem.

  I loved the location. It is walking distance to Manny's and Pitaya, but far enough away to not be too loud. Oceano was easy and professional to deal with. Only one complaint: I wish they would update the mattress and lose the headboard in the master bedroom.

  Love this area of town, very nice to be right on the beach. The condo had questionable items. Stove has slight V shape, not flat, had my frying pan 1/2 off the burner for it to be level. Drawers will fall out if you open all the way, be careful. Odd that arcadia door it latched to a screw, and the "bar" in the door for added security is a piece of PVC Pipe.
  Certain queen bed was really a double. Beds not very comfortable. Internet and wi-fi, worked from about 630 am to 9 am, some in the afternoon, none at night, so don't plan on watching movies on line. We brought VCR tapes to watch movies, only there was no VCR in the place, as advertised in their ad. No paper towels provided, notified office, they didn't seem to get my phone was not working in Mex, as tried to call me several times, then would email to say someone was coming w/ them and never did. Glad I brought my own. It's not a terrible place, but certainly can use some TLC. A screen door on the arcadia door would be really nice.

  The stay was fine. The condo was good. Locating the condo was a joke before actually renting it. Oceano rentals really wants to keep the location a secret which I’m not sure why. It’s a good location. They put the location in the center of rocky point which it’s not. It’s right on the beach. I had a hard time finding oceano rental office because they don’t have that address on their email either. Weird. Like a witness protection program. I talked to the employee about it and he said that everyone knows where it’s at. They don’t need to put the google location on the website or the address(once you get to the office you will be given a map on paper—serious?). The stay was good though. Liked the place.

  We had a great time at the beach. The place is nothing fancy, but for the price, it was perfect. We loved the outdoor bbq. The patio was great, except beware of the constant stream of vendors and don't leave valuables outside. I ran in to grab something to eat and someone stole my phone right off the patio. Bar/restaurant just down the beach was nice as well.

  My family has stayed at various different condos like this one along the beach in Puerto Peñasco, so my review is partially in comparison to other similar places. It was as expected, a great little place right on the beach. It is nice when they have garages like this one, although it looked like this one had been broken into in the past. There was an alarm system, although we never figured out how to use it (we arrived after hours, and the printed instructions didn't quite explain clearly enough). It is located closer to the town than I have ever stayed before, and I probably will try to avoid staying this close again. Beacuse of closures, it was mostly quiet, but is right in the thick of the club zone. We could hear live music from Manny's on the beach. Inside the ac blocks most noise out. Sunday evening the beach was quite crowded with locals. This little group of condos, unlike others, has a little retaining wall on the beach which is just tall enough to annoyingly block your direct view of where the water hits the beach from the back door. Other than that, everything was great! It was clean and freashly painted, but bring a broom if you are staying for more than one night!

  I really like the house,it was really clean, the view is amazing. The place is really secure all doors have locks and gates, they do have an alarm , I was not informed when I pick up the key but they did put the alarm code in red #'s on my paper.The place is by a strip club, did't bother me because the place is far from the noise, you will need to be outside entrance to hear the music. I like how it has a garage,is big enough to put two cars if you got good parking skills, I drove a dodge durango & my aunt a truck 150 we were able to fit both inside with my husband parking skills. it is a rocky area where the water is , I do recommend water shoes. I normally stay in las Conchas ,this was a good place even though there is no security like other places I staid, It was really nice.

  Cute, cozy house perfect for 6. Beach is literally steps away but there are a lot of rocks.. water shoes recommended especially for kids. A/C works great, fridge leaks a little and doesn't cool too well but the freezer works just fine. Toilets, you have to hold down the handle till water disappears but almost every beach home, plumbing is the same. No washer or dryer so make sure to hang your towels and not throw them on the floor. Wi-fi doesn't work but that wasn't a huge issue for us. Also, t.v. works but no cable or dvd player. Spacious car garage so you feel safe knowing your car is well secured as well as the home.

  Overall, we were very satisfied. However, we did have refrigerator and freezer issues the first day as it started leaking all over the kitchen floor. We had to move the food to the coolers until the repair man showed up to fix it. After that, it worked fine. Plumbing is an issue with the Master Bath as you have to hold the handle down the entire time until the toilet finally flushes. Beds were very comfortable. Very close to town (5 min drive) to the Port and fish market areas. Futon could use a little attention. We've stayed in this area before so we knew in advance to bring good water shoes for the ocean because it is very rocky and you can easily get cut up pretty badly if you slip and fall onto the coral. When the tide goes out there are great areas to explore for crabs, octopus, starfish and other sea life. The beach is pretty private, no resorts around. The vendors and Banana Boat still show up though, which we enjoyed. I have two complaints about the garage... It would be nice if renters we given a garage door opener instead of having to unlock the gate and go into the garage to open the door. The single vehicle garage is very spacious as my F-150 fit with ample space all around it. However, there was a lot of debris that fell from the ceiling onto my truck as paint chips or other pieces of the ceiling fell. It could use some attention to prevent damage to other vehicles. We stayed 5 nights and never once heard noise from the strip club directly behind us (we read a lot of reviews that complained about the noise before we stayed). The club was open though, because we drove by several times. Also, the Lexus swim-up bar (attached to Pink Cadillac) across the street from the strip club is our favorite place! We go every time we stay in Rocky Point, and it's in walking distance from this condo. It's low on business, so they close up during some days of the week, but the pool is clean and service is great!

  Property was clean and comfortable. WiFi didn't work, not a big deal for us. No working TV, also not a big deal for us. Comfortable beds, living room furniture needs attention, but useable. Porch furniture not as pictured, but the two chairs and table were comfortable. Retaining wall between condo and water was not my preference, but again, all in all, worth the $ and had a great week.   It was great. It was right on the beach. It was clean and when we had a small problem with the internet, they got it fixed quickly. Granted, you have to understand that is's near some bars, so it was a bit noisy at night, but it was in a great location, so it was worth it.

  right on the water! super dreamy. a little cove of sand for easy dips right out front. less tidal movement with lovely tide type pools exposed at low tide. place felt safe and had a handful of vendors strolling by each day. the place itself was cute and clean. it did have a few outlet troubles and was missing a lock. the kind neighbor lent us an extra and did say that it has been broken into several times and that locking all gates is good. with this is seemed very safe. wi-fi worked. great adventure walk up the hillside and over to a great waterfront restaurant and happy hour place on the hill. recommend that for sure. great spot! can't beat the price and being right on the water.

  We've been staying on the Mirador beach for years. This condo was satisfactory. It needs a few repairs (bathroom sink had a nonstop leak) and maybe a few more/new skillets, pots. A dvd player would be nice to have as well. Also, we were not able to get into the condo until after 5pm. Check in was 4pm. The ladies were still cleaning and we ended up just asking her to leave and not mop the floors. Everything was clean and in order. It was a satisfactory place to stay for the price.
